Chev Equinox EV revealed in China

Chevrolet-Equinox-EV-RS-2025-China

General Motors’ SAIC-GM joint venture in China has revealed the Chevrolet Equinox EV during Auto China 2024 (aka Beijing International Automotive Exhibition).

Its China appearance comes two years after the global debut of Chevrolet’s all-electric compact crossover in the United States on January 5, 2022, says GM Authority.

The Equinox EV was shown at the event as a prelude to its upcoming launch in the Chinese market.

SAIC-GM says the Equinox EV will play a leading role in expanding Chinese production and sales volume of GM’s Ultium models.

Although similar to the North American model, the Equinox EV RS for China is distinguished with a new 20-inch six-spoke wheel design, slightly larger rearview mirrors and clear-finish taillights.

It comes standard with AWD and is powered by an Ultium Drive dual-motor powertrain. The system consists of a front motor producing 143kW power and an additional motor on the rear axle that develops another 68kW for a total combined output of 211kW, GM Authority says.

The Chevy Equinox EV will be manufactured exclusively to supply China’s domestic market and expand Chevrolet’s offering of zero-emission models there, with at least two more variants expected in China.
