Clean Car passes next hurdle
The Land Transport (Clean Car) Amendment Bill has passed its latest hurdle in its journey to law – passing its second reading in parliament last night.
The second stage accepts the limited amendments made to the controversial legislation following its review by select committee.
The changes are detailed in this earlier AutoTalk story. https://autotalk.co.nz/news/little-change-following-clean-car-standard-consultation
Transport Minister Michael Wood told AutoTalk last month he was convinced the process to enact the package would make it through parliament in time for the delayed April 1 implementation.
“Together with colleagues at the Ministry of Transport, we’re working hard to finalise the details needed to support the legislative process for the Clean Car Bill.”
“I’m very happy with the progress that was made through 2021 which puts us in a good position to launch the policy, and I’m confident that there is enough time to progress this work for the 1 April 2022 implementation date, without any impact on the quality of the advice or roll out plan.”
