DENZA Z9GT supercar confirmed for NZ; Brings flash charging

DENZA has confirmed its Z9GT all-electric supercar will join the brand’s New Zealand lineup, with deliveries set to commence in Q3 2026.

The Z9GT will be the first electric vehicle sold in New Zealand featuring BYD’s next-generation Blade Battery 2.0 technology and FLASH ultrafast charging capability. System output is expected to reach around 850kW – equivalent to over 1130 horsepower – enabling a zero to 100km/h sprint time of 2.7 seconds.

DENZA Australia Chief Operating Officer Mark Harland says the Z9GT positions the brand as a leader in new-energy luxury performance.

“The DENZA Z9GT proves that electrification can deliver not just efficiency, but exhilarating performance, extraordinary safety and genuine long-distance usability,” Harland says.

“New Zealand is a market that demands performance without compromise, and the Z9GT has been engineered to meet or exceed expectations.”

Advanced platform and charging technology

The Z9GT rides on DENZA’s new e3 platform, featuring three driving motors for what the company describes as unprecedented performance and manoeuvrability. In CLTC testing overseas, the vehicle achieved a range of around 820km.

The FLASH charging system offers peak 1500kW DC capability, with charging from 10% to 97% expected to take approximately nine minutes. The first FLASH charging sites at selected DENZA dealers in New Zealand are expected to be operational by the end of 2026.

DENZA says the charging speed means hundreds of kilometres of real-world driving can be added in the time it takes to grab a coffee.

Safety and luxury features

The Z9GT will be the first vehicle to feature DENZA’s DiSus-A air suspension system. Combined with the e3 platform, the system is designed to maintain vehicle composure during emergency situations, including tyre blowouts at highway speeds.

The onboard software can manage such incidents in milliseconds by actively controlling power delivery, steering behaviour and braking simultaneously.

Interior features include premium Nappa leather seating with massage, ventilation and extended leg rests, a 50-inch augmented reality head-up display, Devialet premium audio, ambient lighting with 128 colour selections, and a built-in refrigerator.

Head of design Wolfgang Egger described the exterior design and interior as the result of a “creative university” involving more than 1200 designers and engineers from around the world. The design embodies what DENZA calls its “Elegance in Motion” philosophy.

The Z9GT was displayed at the 2026 Melbourne Motor Show, where DENZA positioned it as the brand’s boldest statement in challenging established luxury and performance benchmarks.

Further details including local specifications and pricing will be announced closer to the Z9GT’s Q3 on-sale date. The model will join the DENZA B5, which launched as the brand’s first New Zealand offering.
