Jaguar’s director of design Ian Callum has been awarded a Commander of the Order of the British Empire (CBE) in the Queen’s Birthday Honours List 2019.
The award acknowledges his services to the automotive industry and recognises his contribution towards car design over his four-decade career.
“I feel extremely privileged to receive a CBE in the Queen’s Birthday Honour. I’ve dedicated my life to car design and I’ve been fortunate to spend my career doing what I love and working with some very talented people,” Callum says.
Callum joined Jaguar in 1999 and has since headed the Jaguar Design team, reviving the range with designs including F-Type, the XE, XF and XJ saloons, F-Pace, E-Pace and the electric I-Pace.
In April, the I-Pace was awarded World Car of the Year, World Car Design of the Year and World Green Car of the Year.
Callum says the Jaguar design transformation over the past 20 years and designing the first all-electric Jaguar are his biggest highlights.
“I give immense credit to my team and I feel this recognition is a reflection of the success we have all created.”
As reported by AutoTalk, Callum will step down from director of design after 20 years. Jaguar’s current creative design director Julian Thomson has been appointed to the position, effective July 1.
