Ditching diesel for EVs
The Government aims to switch diesel ministerial cars and will immediately buy six new electric SUVs for its fleet.
And it plans to replace the remaining diesel cars, owned and leased, with greener vehicles during the next two years.
That means about 40% of the 72-ministerial Crown fleet is either fully electric or a plug-in hybrid electric (PHEV) vehicle, NZCity reports.

Aiming for all its light vehicles to be emissions-free by 2025-26, the Government is targeting a net-zero emissions economy by 2050.
