Dyson reveals canned EV details

Inventor and industrial designer Sir James Dyson, recently named the United Kingdom’s richest person, has revealed he spent a fortune developing the cancelled Dyson EV.

Best known for his vacuum cleaners, Dyson told the Sunday Times he even drove the prototype of the SUV which he says he spent 500 million pounds of his own money developing.

Dubbed the N526, it had a 965km range and could get to 100km/h in 4.8 seconds.

Instead, the company focused on making solid-state batteries and other technologies such as artificial intelligence (AI).

The cancelled Dyson N526 had a 200km/h maximum speed using twin 200kW electric motors, the decision to drop it reported by EVtalk last October.

Sir James Dyson led the Sunday Times Rich List with a reported fortune of around 16.2 billion pounds despite the COVID-19 pandemic during which he made ventilators, spending a further nearly 20 million pounds on that.
