Electric LDV T60 ute due 2021

A fully electric derivative of LDV’s popular T60 ute will be produced in the second quarter of 2021 and could be the first EV ute on the New Zealand market.

It’s expected to arrive here in the third quarter of 2021, complementing LDV’s EV van range and means LDV will have an EV in all the popular light commercial vehicle sectors.

LDV brought the EV80 full-size EV van to the market last year, while the soon-to-be launched LDV eDeliver 3 EV van providing up to 6.3 cubic metres of cargo space will land here in Q4 2020, with a pilot vehicle due in coming weeks.

Following on from eDeliver 3, LDV will land the eDeliver 9, a full-size rear-wheel-drive van based on the forthcoming diesel Deliver 9.

“These are very exciting times indeed, and to be at the cutting edge and leading the EV charge in the commercial vehicle sector is something we are delighted to be celebrating,” LDV importer Great Lake Motor Distributors general manager Andrew Bayliss says.

“Enquiry for commercial EVs has been particularly strong, so having an EV ute and three EV vans on the market within the coming months will be sure to bolster LDV’s increasingly popular commercial vehicle range.”

Bayliss says they are unable to provide any details yet on the specification of the ute, but the eDeliver 3 comes with a battery size of up to 53.5kW while the eDeliver 9 comes with a battery of up to 88kW. It is expected the ute will share one of these units.

The ute is currently undergoing trials in Chile.
