Electric Mustang’s smart tech reduces range anxiety

Ford’s Mach-E electric Mustang will have ‘Intelligent Range’ to accurately measure the range left after calculating driver behaviour, weather and other factors.

Cloud-based tech is incorporated too, with the Mach-E using crowdsourced information from other connected Ford EVs, while over-the-air updates for Intelligent Range will also be provided, Stuff reports.

The Mach-E is expected to arrive in US dealerships in the fourth quarter of this year, and in New Zealand and Australia later as a right-hand drive.

Meanwhile, some US Mach-E reservation holders are reporting that various Ford dealerships there are marking up the electric SUV by as much as US$15,000, Electrek

says.

“The Ford Mustang Mach-E starts at US$43,895 before incentives and the first edition has an MSRP of US$59,900, but some reservation holders are reporting on forums that they are being quoted between US$5000 and US$15,000 more by their local dealers.”

Electrek, which says the Mach-E is a hit in the US, asked Ford about the issue.

“Ford shares recommended pricing for all vehicles with dealers and customers,” the automotive manufacturer says.

“Ultimately, customers and dealers will agree to the final pricing.”
