Electrifying BMW i launch
BMW badged electric ride-in toy cars adapted for use by children with impaired mobility starred at the BMW I launch for the Coombes Johnston BMW dealership in Hamilton.
The GoBabyGo charity’s little EVs were a hit with children among the many people who attended the October 26 and 27 BMW i launch, Coombes Johnston BMW and Mini marketing manager Ash Clarke says.
The age-appropriate devices encourage interaction with siblings and friends, deliver therapy benefits, and help children develop spatial awareness and related skills in a way that’s impossible when they are not independently mobile.

GoBabyGo is run by volunteers and relies on donations to pay for cars and adaptations to operate.
It’s selling cars for $399 to help pay for their next container of cars to be adapted, inviting people interested in purchasing one for an able-bodied child to help support the charity’s cause.
BMW NZ supports GoBabyGo and says it is “absolutely thrilled” with the charity’s work.
Bigger cars, like the BMW i8 roadster plug-in hybrid, were also on display at the launch.
Meanwhile, Kevin Pead has been appointed general manager of Coombes Johnston’s Tauranga dealership.
Pead has more than 20 years’ experience in the automotive industry, including in management, sales and customer satisfaction positions with BMW and in the premium vehicle market.
He heads a team of 13 staff and will be building greater focus on boosting the customer’s experience.

“The Coombes Johnston Group invests a huge amount of time and effort into developing and nurturing customer relationships,” Pead says.
“We have won numerous awards at our Hamilton branch for our aftersales service. Now it’s time to bring that focus to the Bay of Plenty.”
The dealership is planning a redesign and refurbishment starting 2019, which Pead says will bring BMW’s leading-edge landmark ‘future retail store’ model to the Bay.
“We’ll be creating a state-of-the-art destination for BMW in our region, coupled with an exceptional customer experience. We are really looking forward to sharing with the community more about that project as it progresses.”
