EV Gala Day February 26

Waiheke-EV-March-15-EV-record-attempt-750×500-1

All EV owners are invited to the EV Gala Day on Waiheke Island, Sunday February 26, 2pm-4pm.

Organiser the Electric Island Waiheke Trust (EIWT) has changed the event’s name from EV Pride Day to EV Gala Day, saying only that “it has become necessary to change the name”.

A Guinness World Record attempt will be made for the most EVs in one place on a residential island, with EV owners asked to assemble their vehicles at the PlaceMakers Waiheke and Waiheke Living carpark, Ostend, Waiheke Island, from 2.15pm.

A drone photo will be taken at 3pm.

Island visitors are welcome to add their EVs, which include plug-in hybrids (PHEVs).

Registration on arrival will establish an email database to enable EIW to communicate with EV owners, along with entry into a prize draw of a battery powered garden blower donated by Stihl Shop, Waiheke.

Attendance at the EV Gala Day is free.

The trust says all EV, e-bike, e-scooter and e-motor cycle owners can attend with their vehicles, while family, friends, neighbours and anyone who may be interested are also welcome.

The EIW database lists 661 EVs on the island, including 448 Nissan Leafs.

Register an intention to participate by emailing john.mead@electricisland.co.nz, and to order a free drone photo.
