EV world record attempt
About 112 EVs lined up for a Guinness World Record attempt for the most EVs in one place on a residential island at the EV Gala Day on Waiheke Island on February 26.
The line-up included cars, buses, vans and a truck, assembling at PlaceMakers Waiheke and Waiheke Living carpark, Ostend, with the record yet to be verified by Guinness.
The event was a great success, with a happy crowd enjoying brilliant sunshine, and there was plenty of positive feedback, organiser the Electric Island Waiheke Trust adds.
Island visitors were invited to add their EVs, which included plug-in hybrids (PHEVs).
Resident Ursula Hoult won a battery-powered leaf blower in a lucky draw, the prize donated by Karen Rollo who, with Phil Rollo, owns Stihl Shops in Ostend and Ellerslie.
A Bidfood electric truck attended, presenting ice creams.
