EVs in second country-long trip

A group of passionate electric vehicle owners are set to repeat their Cape Reinga to Bluff marathon trip.

The second annual ‘Leading The Charge’ road trip will be commencing in early April, with the group of vehicle owners visiting towns and cities along the way to share their knowledge and passion for the technology.

The trip will kick off on April 6, and wrap up in Invercargill on April 22nd.

“Electric Vehicle enthusiasts and owners are one of the most cohesive and positive groups of people on the planet, in our opinion.” says charging infrastructure supplier ChargeNet chief operating officer Nick Smith. “We all look forward to any excuse to get together and our annual road trip is a brilliant reason to get out and connect with our community and anyone who wants to know more about Electric Vehicles.”

There will be at least three Tesla available for test rides and public viewing for the entire duration of the road trip. Two of these cars will have the much talked about ‘Ludicrous’ mode, allowing them to sprint from 0-100km/h in three seconds.

Local EV owners are encouraged to take part and meet up.

The number of registered plug-in EV has more than doubled in the past 12 months, following the same exponential growth curve as other countries moving toward EV technology

ChargeNet is the major sponsor for this year’s event.
