EVworld South expected to be popular
More than 60 exhibitors are expected at EVworld South in Christchurch on November 23 and 24.
The inaugural event hosted by Conferenz at Wigram’s Air Force Museum features the Net Carbon Neutral Towns conference on November 23 which highlights the way toward a zero-emission economy and the role EVs play.
The international keynote speaker at this is Dr Colin Herron from Zero Carbon Futures in the United Kingdom. He will provide an insight into how New Zealand can learn from other countries in achieving carbon and climate change targets.
EVworld South is modelled on the success of the EVworld NZ event in Auckland during August, attended by more than 4400 and including 75 exhibitors and providing more than 1000 EV rides.
Acknowledging the popularity of the EV movement in the South Island, EVworld South will show businesses and residents how they can become involved in the EVolution.
Experts and industry insiders will deliver free seminars across the trade and public days, busting EV myths about charging, residual value and battery life.
The Christchurch City Council has been a driving force in bringing EVworld South to the city, and will be showing the progress it has made supporting EV uptake.
Christchurch was the winner of New Zealand’s ‘Most EV Friendly Town’ at the EVworld Champions’ Awards last year.
EVolocity’s national finals will also be at EVworld South on November 24, bringing together high school students to race their electric bikes and three or more wheeled EVs designed and built over the year.
“EVworld South is the perfect place for us to have our national finals competition,” EVolocity executive director Rob McEwen says.
The EVworld South trade day and expo is on November 23, followed by a free public day on November 24, both from 9am-5pm.
