Formula E stops: Covid-19

The ABB FIA Formula E current electric racing series has been suspended for two months initially.

The Rome ePrix was to have been held on Saturday April 4 but has been postponed after consultation with Italian government representatives.

Resumption is not expected until after government restrictions around the Covid-19 coronavirus pandemic are lifted, Italy being particularly hard hit.

Würth Elektronik, technology partner of the German racing team Audi Sport ABT Schaeffler, together with its partners, supports the decision to refrain from racing events in cities worldwide for the time being due to the Covid-19 coronavirus pandemic.

The affected races are marked with a red flag in the e-racing series calendar.

May has a yellow flag and both June and July a green flag, should the situation improve and stabilise.

Formula E and the FIA say it will no longer be possible to race in Paris, Seoul or Jakarta.

“Right now is the time to take responsible actions and this is why we have decided to temporarily suspend the season and move forward with introducing measures to freeze races from taking place over the next two months,” Formula E founder and chairman Alejandro Agag says.
