Free EV expo comes to Christchurch in November

A free public expo showcasing the latest battery electric vehicles will be held at Te Pae Christchurch Convention Centre on Saturday 1 November and Sunday 2 November 2025.

The Take Charge Expo will feature a range of electric vehicles including models new to New Zealand, giving the public an opportunity to see current EV technology first-hand.

Vehicles on display will include the BYD Atto 3, BYD Dolphin, BYD Seal, BYD Sealion 7, Farizon SuperVan, Geely EX5, Geely Riddara RD6, Honda e:N1, MG4, MG S5 EV, MINI Aceman, MINI Countryman, Nissan Ariya, Volkswagen I.D. Buzz Pro, Zeekr X, and Zeekr 7X.

Several models will be shown in New Zealand for the first time.

Z Energy will also participate in the expo, providing information about their public charging network. Prizes will be available courtesy of exhibitors.

The expo will be open on Saturday 1 November from 10am to 5pm and Sunday 2 November from 9am to 4pm. Visitors can enter via the Cathedral Square entrance to Te Pae Christchurch Convention Centre.

“The Take Charge Expo is free to attend to encourage anyone with an interest in battery electric vehicles to come along and see first-hand the range of technology on display and ask questions of the expert exhibitors,” says Take Charge Events Limited director Kevin Crutchley.
