GM Chevrolet Silverado EV 2026

The Chevrolet Silverado EV ute made its official debut in the US for the 2024 model year.

For 2025, Chevrolet refined the formula with a new trim level as well as additional packages and aesthetic options, says GM Authority.

Now, GM Authority says production of the upcoming 2026 Chevrolet Silverado EV is scheduled to start in May this year.

“According to sources familiar with the matter, the start of regular production (SORP) for the 2026 Chevy Silverado EV is currently scheduled for May 19, 2025,” it says.

“Dealers will be able to submit orders as early as April 10, 2025. That said, these dates are tentative and subject to change, as is often the case with future production timelines.”

Details about possible updates for the 2026 Chevrolet Silverado EV have yet to be announced, says GM Authority.

However, it says the 2025 model year introduced several notable enhancements including colour changes and new wheels.

GM Authority says every variant of the Chevrolet Silverado EV has all-wheel drive as standard.

“Power is provided by GM’s battery technology and GM drive motor technology, delivering a maximum of 754 horsepower (554.5kW), depending on the trim level.

“The Silverado EV rides on GM’s BT1 platform, the same underpinnings utilised for the GMC Hummer EV and the GMC Sierra EV, while production takes place at the GM Factory Zero plant in Michigan.”

EVs and Beyond reported in 2022 that the Silverado EV would likely have been a hit in New Zealand.

We’ve asked GM if the 2026 Silverado EV will come here and to Australia.

Meanwhile, GM Authority also reports on Cadillac showcasing its electric future at the 2025 Retromobile event in Paris from February 5-9.

It featured the Cadillac Lyriq EV, due in New Zealand and Australia early next year.

“The stand also includes a photographic timeline of Cadillac’s history, ending with a teaser of the all-new Cadillac Optiq and the inscription “Coming Soon” in anticipation of the model’s imminent arrival in Europe.”
