Capital & Coast District Health Board says it has become the first Wellington organisation to take up Contact Energy’s electric vehicle fleet trial for businesses.

Two EVs are expected to be the start of the health board’s move toward a smaller carbon footprint.

“We currently have fleet vehicles – ranging from an electric bicycle to small hatchbacks and a delivery truck – at our sites across Wellington, Porirua and Kapiti,” board corporate services general manager Thomas Davis says.

“They are used by a range of teams including community nursing, community health, and other outreach services. We’re now looking to see if electric cars can meet our transport needs, and if they would make a suitable addition to – or replacement for – our current fleet.”

The trial is the latest development in the board’s ongoing work to save energy and be more sustainable and environmentally conscious.
