Honda confirms Super-ONE city EV for 2026

Honda New Zealand will launch the Honda Super-ONE compact electric vehicle in the second half of 2026, targeting urban drivers seeking an agile city car.

The small electric vehicle has been developed from the Honda Super EV Concept that was unveiled at Goodwood 2025. Honda says it is designed for “fun, agility, and effortless urban mobility.”

Honda New Zealand managing director Carolyn McMahon says the Super-ONE will appeal to buyers looking for a compact and sustainable way to navigate city streets.

“The Honda Super-ONE is an exciting addition to our line-up and perfectly suited to New Zealand’s urban lifestyle,” McMahon says.

“It embodies Honda’s philosophy of creating mobility that’s not just practical but genuinely enjoyable – an agile, quiet, and confidence-inspiring EV that makes every drive around town a pleasure.”

Compact dimensions for city use

Measuring under 3.6 metres long and 1.6 metres wide, the Super-ONE has been engineered for tight city streets and compact parking spaces while offering what Honda describes as a “surprisingly spacious and refined interior.”

The company says its lightweight structure, direct handling, and quiet electric powertrain make it suitable for city centres.

We don’t know specifications yet, but the Japanese-marked N-One on which it is based gives clues. It is powered by a 47kW/162Nm front motor with a 29.6kWh battery pack. Range on the WLTC cycle is a just under 300km. That model is priced in Japan at just under NZ$30,000.

Honda says Super-ONE development included extensive testing across Japan’s urban environments and on open roads to ensure ride comfort, safety systems, and charging capabilities meet the company’s global standards.

“As we prepare for the next phase of electrification in New Zealand, the Super-ONE represents how Honda continues to combine intelligent design, advanced technology, and the joy of driving,” McMahon says.

The Honda Super-ONE was officially unveiled at the Japan Mobility Show 2025, alongside the Honda 0 Series Saloon and 0 Series SUV models.

Part of broader electrification push

The Super-ONE will join Honda New Zealand’s growing electrified line-up in 2026, following the introductions of the all-new Prelude and updated e:HEV hybrid ranges of CR-V and ZR-V.

Honda New Zealand has been operating locally since 1988 and says it has built a reputation for quality, reliability, and ownership experiences. The company says it continues to drive toward “a more sustainable and enjoyable mobility future for all New Zealanders” with its expanding range of hybrid and electric vehicles.
