Jaguar says 50,000 have registered interest in its electric reboot

Jaguar says more than 50,000 people have registered interest in its new electric line-up, with around 80 per cent new to the brand.

More than 50,000 people worldwide have registered interest in Jaguar’s new electric line-up, and around 80 per cent of them have never owned a Jaguar, managing director Rawdon Glover has told UK EV site Electrifying.

The registrations are requests for updates rather than orders. Jaguar will open global order books for its first new-era model, the Type 01 electric grand tourer, in early 2027, with first deliveries due in the second half of the year.

The brand is moving upmarket, aiming at wealthier buyers who prioritise design and individuality, a long way from the positioning of the XE and XF it used to sell. Glover has previously said as many as 85 per cent of Jaguar’s existing customers may not follow it into the new range.

He told Electrifying the Type 01 drew more top scores and more bottom scores in Jaguar’s customer clinics than any car it had tested before, and that he would rather build a car some people love than one everyone finds acceptable.

The Type 01 was revealed in New York on 6 October, following the Type 00 concept and Jaguar’s rebrand. It has three motors producing up to 1030PS (757kW), a 118kWh battery and an expected WLTP range of up to 720km, with air suspension and rear-wheel steering. Jaguar quotes a 10 to 80 per cent charge in around 22 minutes on a 350kW charger.

Jaguar Land Rover New Zealand has said local orders open at the start of 2027. New Zealand pricing has not been announced, and Jaguar’s local website is taking registrations of interest.
