Jaguar I-Pace US deals unlikely here

Jaguar I-Pace 1

Don’t expect discounts on the electric Jaguar I-Pace in Australia and New Zealand like the US$20,000 offered on 2019 models across the US.

The I-Pace’s official starting price is about US$70,000, but dealers are knocking off anything around US$20,000 in Florida, New York, Oklahoma City, Seattle and elsewhere, Electrek’s Best EV deals price survey reveals.

Electrek reports a Jaguar spokesperson confirming some retailers are offering “amazing deals” to promote the I-Pace as the industry and brand has been impacted by the COVID-19 pandemic.

Winning a string of awards, including World Car of the Year 2019 and World Green Car, the I-Pace had about 18,000 global sales last year but only a few thousand of those in the US.

Discounts of US$10,000 or more are also offered on 2020 models there.

But Jaguar Land Rover New Zealand general manager Steve Kenchington says I-Pace discounts similar to US ones are unlikely in New Zealand and Australia.

“Not to that extent…..and there could possibly be some US government subsidies in there,” he explains.
