Kia EV6 European Car of the Year

The Kia EV6 is the 2022 Car of the Year in the European Car of the Year (COTY) awards.
It had tough competition from the Hyundai Ioniq 5, Ford Mustang Mach-E, Škoda Enyaq iV, Cupra Born, Renault Mégane E-Tech and Peugeot 308.
The EV6, which has 528km range and takes 18 minutes to recharge from 10 to 80%, was voted the overall winner by a 61-strong jury of motoring journalists from 23 European countries.
“This is an absolutely momentous achievement for Kia and continues to build anticipation ahead of our own launch of the all-new EV6 here,” says Kia New Zealand managing director Todd McDonald.
“Independent third-party endorsement of the Kia EV6 by the world’s motoring press reaffirms why we are looking forward to the debut of this vehicle on our shores. It’s the all-round complete package offering generous interior space, outstanding fast-charging and driving range capability, as well as impressive levels of technology.”
McDonald says it’s only weeks away from the new model arriving in dealerships.
“I have every expectation it is going to make an absolute statement on the showroom floor as the new flagship of our portfolio.”
Kia Europe president Jason Jeong says the award is a great honour.
“The EV6 is an exciting sign of what’s still to come in our evolving electrified line-up.”
It’s Kia’s first dedicated EV based the brand’s electric-global modular platform (E-GMP).
Other titles recently claimed by the EV6 include the 2022 Irish Car of the Year, 2022 What Car? ‘Car of the Year’, ‘Crossover of the Year’ at the TopGear.com 2021 awards, ‘Premium’ winner in the German Car of the Year 2022 awards, and joint winner of the inaugural ‘Best Cars of the Year’ 2021/2022 awards.
The EV6 is the first of seven dedicated EV models Kia plans to launch by 2026.
