Kiwi Cassidy 10th and seventh in ABB FE Tokyo double-header

Jaguar TCS Racing driver Nick Cassidy finished 10th and had the fastest lap in the rain‑affected Round 8 of the 2024/25 ABB FIA Formula E World Championship in Japan, also placing seventh in Round 9 while teammate Mitch Evans had incidents forcing him out of both races.

Cassidy was promoted into the top 10 in Round 8 after Mahindra’s Nyck de Vries was penalised for contact with Evans which forced the Jaguar TCS Racing driver to retire while challenging for a possible top six result, says Jaguar TCS Racing.

Round 8 was affected by rain which saw qualifying cancelled.

Cassidy climbed six places to finish seventh in Round 9 in Tokyo.

Evans was unable to make the start of Round 9 following an accident in qualifying.

Evans says Round 9 was “clearly a very disappointing day”, especially after being taken out of the race the day before.

Following the Tokyo E‑Prix, Jaguar TCS Racing are now eighth in the Teams’ World Championship and sit fourth in the Manufacturers’ standings.

Cassidy and Evans are 13th and 16th respectively in the Drivers’ World Championship.

Nissan’s Oliver Rowland won Round 9, followed by Porsche’s Pascal Wehrlein and Cupra Kiro’s Dan Ticktum.

Jaguar TCS Racing team principal James Barclay says the team looks forward to bouncing back strongly in China.

Another double header is at the Shanghai E-Prix on May 31 and June 1.
