Light vehicle training programme launched by MITO

MITO_colourChanging vehicle technology has prompted industry training organisation MITO New Zealand to offer a new programme for light vehicle apprentices.

Providing new unit standards, the programme enables apprentices to meet the complex challenges of servicing vehicles and meeting future needs, such as working safely on electric vehicles.

It includes workplace practical learning and eLearning which allows apprentices to complete theory elements in their own time. They will be able to access eLearning at any time and from any device – mobile phone, tablet or computer, MITO says.

“We’re delighted to launch the new light vehicle training programme as part of our commitment to workforce development and the long-term future of the automotive industry,” MITO chief executive Janet Lane says.

She says the programme is a result of substantial consultation with industry across the country.

It’s open for new enrolments from those employed in the industry and who have an employer able to support their learning.
