Livestream: BYD Sealion 8 pricing to be revealed this Friday

The wait for BYD’s dedicated family hauler is nearly over. Join EVs and Beyond this Friday for the exclusive pricing reveal and first local look at the all-new BYD Sealion 8.

BYD New Zealand is kicking off 2026 with one of its most anticipated launches yet. On January 23, host Richard Edwards and BYD NZ Country Manager Warren Willmot will be live to pull the covers off the Sealion 8—the brand’s new large, seven-seat Super Hybrid SUV.

While the Sealion 6 and the recently launched Shark 6 ute have shaken up the PHEV market, the Sealion 8 enters a segment with few direct rivals. At over five metres long, it looks to bridge the gap between mid-sized 7-seaters like the Mitsubishi Outlander and larger, traditional family movers like the Toyota Highlander, bringing BYD’s DM-i (Dual Mode) plug-in technology to a larger form factor.

During the broadcast, Richard and Warren will provide a comprehensive hands-on look at the new SUV, exploring the interior tech, third-row comfort, and family-focused features.
