Low carbon future award for ChargeNet NZ

Steve West has accepted the low carbon future award on behalf of ChargeNet NZ at the Deloitte Energy Excellence Awards on August 22.

The award was presented by energy and resources minister Megan Woods for ChargeNet NZ encouraging EV adoption and lower carbon emissions by building a network of rapid chargers.

Judges were impressed with how ChargeNet NZ is redefining the competitive landscape as electricity and transport converge.

More than 650 industry members attended the awards, held at Cordis Auckland (formerly The Langham).

The event provides an annual opportunity to recognise excellence and achievement across the energy sector.

Other winners were Rebecca Wilson of Transpower (young energy professional of the year), Fiona Smith of Trustpower (women in energy award), City Rail Link (large energy user initiative of the year), Vector (health and safety initiative of the year), OMV New Zealand (innovation in energy award), New Zealand’s Aluminium Smelter (community initiative of the year), BP New Zealand (energy technology of the year), and Electric Kiwi (energy retailer of the year).

Richard Tweedie was honoured with the editor’s award for outstanding contribution to the sector while Todd Corporation managing director for 23 years. Tweedie’s work saw the Todd Petroleum Mining business unit evolve into the Todd Energy brand.
