Mayhem in Marrakesh Formula E

Kiwi driver Mitch Evans finished ninth for the Panasonic Jaguar Racing team in a mishap marred second round of the 2019 ABB FIA Formula E Series in Morocco.

While Evans set a track record and won a practice race, that was about it for him and team mate Nelson Piquet Jnr as they were caught up in the carnage.

Both were briefly forced off the track, with Evans recovering enough for a respectable finish.

The biggest drama came just before the finish when the two BMW I cars collided after looking dead certs for first and second.

Jerome d’Ambrosio from the Mahindra racing team won the race after the chaos.

Evans is seventh overall after the two rounds, with a chance to gain ground in the third race in Santiago, Chile, on January 26.

The Marrakesh Formula E made sports headlines around the world, with some media also dwelling on the attendance of actors Elizabeth Hurley and Justin Theroux.
