Meridian Energy pauses green hydrogen project
A proposal to build the world’s first large-scale green hydrogen plant in Southland has been put on hold with developers pointing to economic pressures including the rising cost of renewable energy.
Meridian’s Southern Green Hydrogen (SGH) project has been in the pipeline for years and promised to make green hydrogen generated from renewable energy at sites such as Manapouri Power Station for international and domestics markets.
