Mevo to add 100 BEVs

Mevo will put its $500,000 grant from the Government’s low emission vehicles contestable fund towards adding 100 battery electric vehicles (BEVs) to its car share fleet from early 2020.
“The funding will help us expand Mevo’s car share scheme currently using plug-in hybrid vehicles and provide Wellingtonians with another low emissions transport option to get from A to B,” Mevo chief executive officer Erik Zydervelt says.
In 2017 Mevo received $500,0000 from the same fund, which was fundamental in bringing the company’s vision to life, he says.
“Now, with thousands of members taking tens of thousands of trips around the city, we’re seeing many members ditch their cars altogether to opt for the convenience of car sharing.
“As a climate positive company, sustainability has always been at the core of what we do, so the addition of these battery electric vehicles is a natural extension of this philosophy.”
