MG reduces EV prices
\MG Motor New Zealand has reduced prices by up to $5000 on some of its New Energy Vehicles (NEVs).
The recommended retail price (RRP) of a new MG ZS EV Long Range is now $59,990 (which becomes $52,975 post rebate), a new MG HS PHEV Excite is now $49,990 which reduces to $45,965 after the rebate, and the MG HS PHEV Essence is $51,965 post rebate.
“MG was the original champion of making electric motoring affordable for everyone with the 2020 launch of the original MG ZS EV, the first electric car to be available locally for less than $50,000,” says MG New Zealand country manager Arek Zywot.
“Since then, we have introduced the HS PHEV, an updated ZS EV and a new Long Range model, as well as become the first brand to announce a sub-$40,000 post-rebate new full EV with the MG4 51kWh Excite.
“This new pricing action makes the price of a new MG ZS EV Long Range and MG HS PHEV Excite or Essence even more compelling.”
Zywot says the price revisions will help provide attractive, attainable and viable options for people wanting to make the switch to zero and low emissions motoring.
“Ultimately, it’s about encouraging new car buyers to make the best decision when all factors are taken into account, including fuel costs and environmental considerations, but also MG’s transferable seven years unlimited kilometre warranty, seven years roadside assistance and seven years warrant of fitness checks for each and every new model.”
The new ZS EV Long Range has 440km range ( WLTP) and offers a wide array of creature comforts as standard, including driver and front passenger seat heating, panoramic glass sunroof, a 360-degree view camera, Apple CarPlay/Android Auto and wireless phone charging.
It has three driving modes (Eco, Normal and Sport) as well as three regenerative braking modes which can deliver a ‘one-pedal’ driving experience.
Vehicle-to-load (V2L) capability is also available.
The two MG HS plug-in hybrid (PHEV) models, Excite and Essence, are spacious SUVs which combine performance with low-emission practicality and are similarly loaded with safety features, innovative characteristics and new technology.
The PHEV provides up to 63km (NEDC) of electric range.
Combined with the 1.5-litre turbo combustion engine, the MG HS PHEV produces 189kW power and 370Nm torque, delivering 1.7L/100km combined cycle fuel consumption and 39g/km CO2 emissions.
All models in the NEV price reduction have 10 MG Pilot safety features as standard, including rear traffic alert, blind spot detection, adaptive cruise control and active emergency braking.
