Micromobility infrastructure push

Urban residents globally are turning to e-mobility such as electric bikes, scooters and skateboards during the COVID-19 pandemic, forming a critical mass of new riders.

But many cities have a long way to go to provide the infrastructure needed, such as protected bike lanes, parking racks, charging kiosks and slow streets – covered in a webinar by California-based Micromobility on September 30 at 1pm Pacific Time (US).

The webinar titled Beyond Bike Lanes: Building a Blueprint for Micromobility Cities

, features Kuhmute co-founder and chief executive Peter Deppe, Disability Mobility director Anna Zivarts and City of Oakland mobility policy director Warren Logan.

Surveys show the main reason people don’t commute on two wheels is the lack of road safety, Micromobility says.

“If cities want to cement this mode shift—and in doing so, make a real difference on climate, street safety, and pollution—now is the time for them to get serious about micromobility infrastructure that encourages people to ditch their cars for good.“
