More e-scooters for Auckland

Singapore-based Beam electric scooters have been launched in Auckland with more than 100 of its e-scooters available and about 780 more expected within weeks.

It joins Kiwi start-up Flamingo, which has 525 and plans another 100, after Lime and Wave e-scooters were removed from the city’s streets for failing to meet tougher safety rules.

Other e-scooter rentals Jump and Neuron also got Auckland Council approval in 2019 but have yet to roll out their fleets, Stuff

reports.

Once they do Auckland could have up to 3200 rental e-scooters on its pathways.

Beam plans an official launch event around February 4 or 5.
