New e-skateboard range launched

A new premium electric skateboard brand called Dot boards has been launched by Globe International.
Drawing on 30 years of skateboard innovation and six years of intensive research and development, Dot is advancing the electric skateboard category with a future-proof design that enables the board to be customised and modified at any time.
Available in three sizes, the Dot board provides hill climbing capability on inclines of up to 30% grade, a 38km/h top speed, up to 40km range, user-defined custom ride modes, premium skateboard hardware and a one-year warranty.
Power to the board is mediated by a grip control with a soft silicon trigger and sensor magnets to deliver a more responsive ride experience.
Its modular construction means people can choose how to configure their board by selecting the deck size, number of motors, number of batteries and even the wheel type.
Modifications can also be made after purchase, allowing it to adapt as the rider’s needs change.
With a longer product lifespan, these boards are expected to result in less landfill as the parts are serviceable at a component level and forms part of the company’s commitment to delivering the world’s most advanced electric skateboard experience.
“As avid skateboarders since we were kids, we’ve always been obsessed with freedom and flexibility, and we’ve designed the board for the next decade that gives customers the ability to change their configuration as their skills and needs evolve,” says Globe International co-founder Peter Hill, a former Australian champion skateboarder.
Adoption of lightweight, electric vehicles is growing rapidly in the United States. In 2018, about 84 million rides were taken by electric bicycles, electric scooters, electric skateboards and shared bicycles.
“Building on our 30 year-history in developing skateboards, we’re on a mission to unlock new personal transport possibilities with the most advanced and enjoyable-to-ride electric boards,” Globe International chief executive officer Matt Hill says.
“We are heavily investing in product engineering to create top of the line electric boards that solve last-mile commute problems and add new flexibility and fun in getting from place to place.”
