Nothing confirmed for Honda EVs in NZ yet
Honda New Zealand has no confirmed plans for the Urban EV or Sports EV models.
That’s the company’s response when asked by EVtalk whether the production models would be available here after Honda Australia confirmed it won’t bring the Urban EV Concept production model to that country.
Honda Australia says it has “no plans for electric vehicles locally at this stage”.
The 2019 Honda EV is expected to go to European customers first.
Reports suggest that with Australia’s low EV uptake, Honda Australia isn’t keen to risk introducing its all-electric vehicles there.

But expectations are New Zealand will get Honda EVs before the Australians because of our greater interest in EVs.
The production four-seat hatchback for the Urban EV Concept is expected to have about a 250km range, with more details likely in early 2019.
Honda expects to release a number of EVs during the next five years.
