Ola rideshare launches in three NZ cities

Global ridesharing platform Ola starts services in Auckland, Wellington and Christchurch on November 6.

It will rival Uber and Zoomy.

To celebrate its launch, Ola is offering Kiwis 50% off all rides for their first month when they book from their Ola app.

Customers can an also be picked up from Auckland and Wellington airports.

Safety features include an in-app emergency button which enables customers to instantly share important ride information, such as real-time ride tracking, location coordinates and vehicle and driver information with friends, family and emergency services.

Every vehicle is inspected to ensure it is roadworthy and every driver undertakes a police check, Ola says.

Drivers can benefit from an introductory commission rate of 9%, as well as daily payments and 24-hour support.

With a reliable platform, an engaged, growing group of drivers and local staff in place, we’re excited to announce that Ola is now available to Kiwi passengers, giving them a fresh alternative to move about conveniently within our cities.”

The Ola app can be downloaded from the Google Play and iOS App stores and an account registered to begin booking rides.

The app will continue to evolve after the initial launch as the team tracks feedback from customers to enhance the rideshare experience, including new promotions and offers.

New customers in the three cities who sign up in the app by November 30 will receive 50% off all rides for their first 30 days after joining. Discounts are capped at $10 per ride.

Ola launched in Australia in February and in the United Kingdom in August.
