Omoda updates E5 with more power

Omoda has refreshed its fully electric E5 for the New Zealand market, increasing power output, introducing new variant names, and adjusting pricing.

The MY25.5 Omoda E5 now starts at $40,990 plus on-road costs and is available in two trims: the BX and the EX.

Both variants are powered by a front-mounted 155kW permanent magnet synchronous motor – up from 150kW – delivering 288Nm of torque. Range remains at 430km WLTP, using a 58.9kWh lithium iron phosphate (LFP) battery. Charging options include DC fast charging from 30–80% in about 30 minutes (with a 130kW charger), and AC charging at up to 10.3kW (three-phase).

Standard equipment includes dual 12.3-inch displays, 18-inch alloy wheels, voice-activated controls, wireless Apple CarPlay and Android Auto, and a suite of driver assistance systems. These include AEB, adaptive cruise control, lane keep assist, blind spot detection, rear cross traffic alert, and door opening warning.

The $44,990 EX variant adds heated front and outboard rear seats, a power sunroof, Sony 8-speaker audio system, ambient lighting, a 360-degree camera, wireless phone charging, privacy glass, a powered driver’s seat, and a powered tailgate.

Towing capacity is rated at 750kg unbraked, and the E5 includes a full-size spare wheel. Boot space is 300 litres with the rear seats up and 1,079 litres with them folded. A 19L front storage compartment is also included.

The updated E5 is available now and is supported by a seven-year unlimited-kilometre vehicle warranty, eight-year battery warranty, and seven years of roadside assistance.

The petrol-powered Omoda C5 has also been updated and adopts the same BX and EX trim structure.
