Outlander PHEV’s record month

The latest model Mitsubishi Outlander PHEV has beaten the range’s previous sales record by 15% during February.

With 75 units sold, PHEV sales comprised 25% of all Outlander sales just six months after the model’s release.

Mitsubishi Motors New Zealand (MMNZ) is confident it will continue to better its records as the year continues.

“The new 20MY Outlander PHEV expands the horizons of adventure-loving families looking to embrace this alternative technology,” MMNZ marketing and corporate affairs head Reece Congdon says.

“Boasting an improved EV range, a more powerful and efficient 2.4L engine and enhanced off-road capability, it’s better equipped to deliver the performance levels that discerning SUV fans demand.”

Congdon attributes the result to an increasing share of household incomes being spent on petrol ($48.50 weekly average), an expanding national network of charging stations and an overall increased interest in EVs across the country.

“More and more Kiwis are considering the switch and, when they start to look into the options available, they realise a PHEV SUV offers them the best of both worlds – an EV-only option for around town and a combined range of over 600km with a towing capacity of 1500kg for family road trips.”
