Plug-ins comprise 75% of Norway vehicle sales

EVs represent more than 75% of all vehicle sales in Norway as internal combustion engine (ICE) vehicles face extinction there.

Battery electric vehicles (BEVs) are preferred over plug-in hybrids (PHEVs) by about 3:1, with BEVs alone comprising 55.9% of the auto market.

Plug-less hybrids took 7.1%, diesel 10%, and petrol 7.7% in the remaining quarter share.

Considering the COVID-19 coronavirus pandemic, overall March auto sales volume dropped by 32.2% year-on-year from March 2019, Clean Technica reports.

EVs fared much better than ICE though, falling 26.7%, with auto sales expected to return closer to historical volumes later this year.

Favourite BEV models in March 2020 included the Audi e-tron, Tesla Model 3, VW e-Golf, Nissan Leaf, and Hyundai Kona EV.

The Volkswagen ID.3 might shake up the best-seller list later this year, if VW can resolve its software challenges.

Plug-less hybrids are vanishing as BEV range improves.

The rest of Europe is expected to switch to BEVs too.
