Porsche Taycan deliveries double

Porsche-Taycan-road-shot

About 41,296 units of the all-electric Porsche Taycan were delivered globally last year – more than double the 2020 deliveries.

The brand delivered 301,915 vehicles worldwide in the 2021 fiscal year, up 11% on 2020 and its strongest delivery result with China continuing to be Porsche’s largest single market and big increases in America.

Around 4428 vehicles were delivered by Porsche Cars Australia in 2021, representing a 4.4% increase compared to 4243 in 2020, and included 531 Taycans.

Porsche AG executive board member for sales and marketing Detlev von Platen says the global record deliveries were in spite of challenges from the COVID-19 pandemic and semi-conductor shortages.

“Demand remains high and our order books are looking very robust, so we start 2022 full of momentum and confidence in all regions of the world.”

Deliveries were up 8% in China on a record 2020 with 95,671 vehicles delivered to Chinese customers in spite of challenges posed by supply bottlenecks.

Overall, there were 131,098 deliveries in the Asia-Pacific, Africa and Middle East region, which is 8% more than in 2020, Porsche says.

About 86,160 vehicles were handed over to customers in Europe – 7% more than in 2020. The high rate of electric sports cars was of particular note with around 40% of Porsche vehicles delivered in Europe in 2021 electric – either plug-in hybrids (PHEVs) or all-electric cars, the company adds.

Says von Platen: “The overall result is very promising and shows the strategy to further electrify our fleet is working and is in line with demand and the preferences of our customers.”
