Price cut for MG ZS EV

MG have confirmed they are cutting the price of the MG ZS EV, before deliveries even begin on the new lowest-priced new EV on New Zealand roads.

Special launch price of the car was to be $50,100, with expectations this would rise around $5000 once the initial allocation of 125 units had sold out.

Today, MG boss Peter Ciao confirmed the standard price will be $48,990 plus on road costs, with that price now being given to the initial buyers and ongoing customers.

Specification remains the same, but there have been tweaks to the warranty. Instead of a seven-year warranty, the battery warranty has been extended a year to eight-years and 160,000km, and the vehicle warranty to five-years but with unlimited kilometres.

Country manager Anthony Maclean says buyers who ordered at the launch price will get the discount, plus they will get a ChargeNet fob preloaded with $500 credit.

EVs and Beyond understands a lower-priced, reduced specification version of the car is also being considered for the future, while a facelift is likely to come in around a year.

The next cheapest BEV on the market is the Nissan Leaf at $61,990.
