Renault’s electrified cars drive sales

Strong growth in Renault E-Tech electric and electrified passenger cars are behind surging sales in Europe where the brand sold 532,161 vehicles (13.2%), representing a 7% market share, with E-Tech sales of 91,869 vehicles up 149%.

That’s helped push Renault Group’s worldwide sales up 18.7% in the first half of 2021 compared with 2020. 

The E-Tech range has been a great success, accounting for one in four Renault passenger cars sold in Europe. For its Arkana new coupe-shaped hybrid SUV, one in two sales is an E-Tech version, Renault reports.

The group’s order backlog in Europe at the end of June 2021 amounts to 2.5 months’ sales, supported by the attractiveness of the Renault E-Tech offering, light commercial vehicles, the new Dacia Sandero and the Dacia Spring 100% electric.

In an environment still disrupted by the COVID-19 pandemic, the Renault Group sold 1,422,600 vehicles in the first half of 2021, up 18.7% on 2020, but down 24.2% on the first half of 2019.
