Rivian to trademark six electric model names
Rivian aims to have three utes (pickups) and three SUVs under newly submitted trademark names.
Trademarks for the R3S, R4S, R5S, R3T, R4T, and R5T were submitted by Rivian to the United States Patent and Trademark Office on July 23.
These should be for the six vehicles Rivian wants to launch by 2025, as confirmed by chief executive RJ Scaringe earlier this year, the Rivian Owners Forum reports.
Rivian already has trademarks for the R1T ute and R1S SUV seen in New Zealand recently for winter testing with ute deliveries expected to start in the US in September and the SUV by the end of this year.
Recent reports such as Rivian’s plans for a second factory indicate a move to more products, including its own batteries, and suggest the company is eyeing up Australia and New Zealand.
Earlier this year, Teslarati obtained documents hinting of Rivian’s Normal, Illinois, production facility expansion.
