Rivian ute and SUV on show February

Rivian’s electric R1T ute and R1S SUV will be on show at the Fully Charged LIVE North America event in Austin, Texas, on February 1-2.

Fully Charged is a YouTube channel about EVs and sustainable energy.

The show will feature about 50 EVs such as Rivian’s EVs which the public will be able to look at for probably the first time.

The event includes indoor and outdoor displays.

Rivian doesn’t often get involved in public shows, although it did allow people to view its production plant being established at the former Mitsubishi factory in Illinois, aiming to start producing the R1T and R1S in late 2020 in three battery sizes.

They will come with a 105kWh battery giving 370km range, a 135kWh with more than 480km range and a 180kWh providing about 640km on a single charge.

Chelsea Sexton of California, a frequent visitor to New Zealand’s annual Leading the Charge EV road trip, interviewed Rivian chief executive officer RJ Scaringe and chief engineer Charles Sanderson for Fully Charged.
