RNM Alliance appoints Sutcliffe to LCV business unit

Mark Sutcliffe has been appointed Renault Nissan Mitsubishi Alliance light commercial vehicle business unit senior vice president, effective June 1.

Currently the alliance industrial strategy and supply chain management SVP, Sutcliffe will temporarily report to Renault SA chief executive Clotilde Delbos, and to Nissan chief executive Makoto Uchida.

Sutcliffe remains a member of the Groupe Renault management committee and replaces Ashwani Gupta who was appointed on April 1, 2017.

Born in England in 1964, Sutcliffe studied electrical and electronic engineering at the University of Newcastle upon Tyne where he was awarded the RW Mann Scholarship.

He worked in the consumer packaging industry for Metal Box Plc before joining Nissan in 1991.

He has held various positions in production, quality, engineering and production control at Nissan Sunderland Plant before being appointed Nissan Europe supply chain management and purchasing SVP in 2007.

Sutcliffe became the first leader of Alliance Logistics Europe in 2009. Following four years in the aerospace industry as Rolls Royce Group planning and production control director, he re-joined the automotive industry as Renault Group supply chain vice president and became Alliance global supply chain management vice president on April 1, 2014.

He was appointed to his present role on April 1, 2018, and sits on the supply chain executive advisory boards of both academic and industry organisations.
