SEA Electric enters step van market

Australian electric vehicle technology company SEA Electric is bringing a new product to the step van market.
Details of the new SEA SV6 EV were recently revealed at Work Truck Week 2022 held in Indiana, US.
The vehicle is set to target the North American market with orders now available and production expected to begin later this year.
It will be powered by the SEA-Drive 120b power-system with a gross vehicle weight rating of up to 12 tonnes. It delivers 249.8kW of power and 2500Nm of torque
The 138kWh battery pack for the platform delivers an unladen range of up to 270km, complete with vehicle-to-grid (V2G) charging capabilities, while also configured for fast charging at up to 100kW.
The batteries come with a full five-year warranty, with the warranty of the systems covering three years or 80,000 kilometres.
SEA Electric founder and chief executive Tony Fairweather says the SV6 EV is “set to revolutionise the important step van market across North America”.
He says the company’s mission is to eliminate more than one billion kilograms of CO2 emissions overt the next five years.
“When compared to a traditional internal combustion engined vehicle the benefits extend far beyond energy efficiencies.
“From an operational perspective, lower maintenance and running costs, are a given, with the elimination of diesel consumption and fewer moving parts minimising service costs,” Fairweather says.
At this stage, the SV6 is intended initially for the US market, however, SEA is in discussions to understand demand in Australia and New Zealand.
