Smartphone and Bluetooth enabled EV charger from eNext

The eNext Home is a Bluetooth enabled wall mounted charging station for home users providing a range of features accessible via the Circontrol Hi Charger smart phone application.

It comes in single phase 7kW and three phase 22kW versions – plus optional MCB and DC leakage protection – and can be supplied as socket only or with a tethered cable and cable holder.

Bluetooth related features include remote configuration, access locked to phone and proximity charging.

The station will automatically start charging when it detects the owner’s phone after the car is plugged in. This feature is useful in situations where the charging station is in an area that could be accessible to other drivers.

The eNext can also be programmed for interval charging to take advantage of cheap charging periods.

It can be supplied as Type 2 socket only or with a Type 2 fixed tethered cable.

The Circontrol HiCharger smart phone app allows remote programming of the eNext, including time scheduling, diagnostics, firmware upgrades and proximity access control where the charging session is authorised by the presence of a registered mobile phone.

The app shows real time charging information such as elapsed time and battery status.

The charging station can be energised by means of an on/off external input signal (timer) connected by cable, which is useful for cheap overnight rate dedicated circuits.

It’s compatible with the BeON current clamp sensor (accessory). The Beon dials down the charge supplied to the car when the total amount of power drawn by the electrical devices in the house reaches the limit specified on the main circuit breaker, which is 63 amps for a single phase house and 32 amps per phase for a three phase house in Western Australia.

The frontal LED bar not only informs the user about the charger status but also the EV charging status; charging (dynamic blue light) versus charged (static blue light).

The charger’s housing is made of ABS robust and UV resistant plastic, providing protection against both mechanical stress and severe environmental conditions making it suitable for indoor and outdoor use, the company says.

Some 20 Circontrol charging stations have meanwhile been supplied and installed by E-Station and Powerlux WA at the City of Wanneroo’s civic centre car park in Perth.

The 7kW and 22kW Type 2 wall and bollard mounted stations are network enabled for connection to any OCPP compatible management system such as Charge Star and compatible with load balancing systems like Thor.

Drivers can access the EV charging stations through an RFID card or the Nextcharge smart phone app.

Other Australian charging installations include the Grosvenor Building Sydney 225 George St E-Station for the Deloitte’s team, the City of Townsville’s 50kW DC station at the Palmer Street café and an AC station, and the Murray Bridge E-Station in South Australia with two twin 22kW sockets.

E-Station was founded in Perth in 2010 and has expanded its operations across Australia.
