Tesla begins Hardware 4 EV deliveries
Tesla has reportedly begun deliveries of its new EVs equipped with the Hardware 4 (HW4) computer (aka FSD2).
A Tesla owner who received his new EV confirms his car has the new system fitted and posted photos of his new Model X Plaid which he says was manufactured on February 25, InsideEVs reports.
“During the delivery procedure, a Tesla technician confirmed that his vehicle was equipped with ‘TeslaAP4’ and the radar was set to ‘Phoenix’, which is the name of the latest iteration hardware, according to the latest leaks on the company’s new computer,” InsideEVs adds.
It believes the new Tesla Model X and Model S have the HW4 computer and expects the Model Y and Model 3 will get the updated hardware too, although its unlikely to be retrofitted on those with the previous Hardware 3 computer.
Meanwhile, Tesla is also offering “Loot Box” credits for those buying its products and through referrals if family or friends buy the products using the referral link, redeeming credits for “awards and more”.
Loot Box is opened using the Tesla app to access the referral link, check the credit balance and to shop for awards.
Speculation has been mounting that two Tesla vehicles under wraps shown at the recent Tesla Investor Day event could be a van and a small “affordable” EV.
Tesla reckons the global fleet could comprise 300 million electric light commercial vehicles in future, including commercial vans and utes, plus another 20 million electric heavy commercial trucks.
Various media have reported a Tesla robovan could be built on the Cybertruck platform, the e-van initially expected next year.
