Tesla May Battery Day to include ‘Terafactory’ details

Tesla’s Battery Day in possibly the third week of May will be “one of the most exciting days in Tesla history”, chief executive Elon Musk says.

To be held in either California or Texas, Battery Day is expected to include several major announcements, such as Tesla’s next plants being “Terafactories” producing more than a terawatt-hour of battery capacity (1000GWh) rather than Gigafactories.

Tesla is also likely to report results from its secret Roadrunner project, Electrek reports.

It aims produce its own battery cells using technologies developed by Tesla’s internal teams, including work from its Canada research lab led by Jeff Dahn, and new technologies from its recent acquisition of Maxwell.
