Tesla talks Texas?

Tesla is likely to have its next Gigafactory (or ‘Terafactory’) in Austin, Texas.

So says Electrek, reporting a source saying the move will happen quickly.

People familiar with the project say Tesla chief executive Elon Musk has tasked an engineering team working at Gigafactory Nevada to start the process for the new factory where the Cybertruck and Model Y are expected to be made, Electrek adds.

Production could start by late 2021.

Musk started talking about moving Tesla’s California operations to Nevada and/or Texas due to issues involving the reopening of its Fremont factory during COVID-19 restrictions.
