Tesla millionth car Model Y

Tesla has made a million electric cars – the milestone car a Model Y.

Noting the achievement on Twitter, Tesla chief executive Elon Musk posted a photo of the Model Y and another of the team which made it.

The first auto manufacturer to make a million electric cars, Tesla will soon deliver its fourth – the Model Y – after making the Model S, Model X and Model 3, to complete its ‘S3XY’ project.

Formed in 2003, Tesla first produced the Roadster in 2008 and plans to deliver more than 500,000 of its cars worldwide this year.

bruno le maire french finance minister (1)The EV company is ramping up production, now producing cars from its Gigafactory Shanghai in China. It has other factories in Fremont, Californian, Nevada (including battery production) and Buffalo in New York state in the US and is building another in Germany, the latter known as Gigafactory 4.

Once all the factories are producing, Tesla could even make a million EVs annually within a few years.
