Electric vehicle chargers are included in all four The Block NZ homes.

Thousands who turned out to an open home day at the Hobsonville Point, Auckland, townhouses on September 16 would have noticed the EV chargers in each home’s garage.

The Schneider Electric EVlink charging stations are 7.4kW AC, one-phase, with Type 2 cables.

That means they will suit most new EVs.

They are standard EV charging stations designed to provide a safe, reliable and fast charge and do not provide vehicle-to-grid (V2G) charging to help power up the home or help provide any surplus electricity transfer back into the grid.

It’s unknown whether they can be linked to storage batteries or solar power.

The Block NZ, which screens on Three on Sunday to Wednesday nights, involves four couples competing to renovate houses and sell them at auction for the highest price.

The seventh such show has been running since July and the houses go to auction in about a fortnight.
